Accelerated Success Course - Day 2
Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Think Right Now! Accelerated Success Conditioning Class... an intensive 6-day e-mail class on making lasting emotional and behavioral changes in your life that you haven't been able to make on your own. How can you do that? You can do it by effortlessly installing up to 22 core mental patterns (unconscious thoughts, beliefs and attitudes) of the people who already think, feel and perform exactly how you want to concerning that specific situation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To be removed or to change your address, follow the instructions at the bottom of this letter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Welcome back. Mike Brescia here again. This is Day 2 of your 6 day course. I hope you're ready... Because we've got a lot of ground to cover today. So let's get started! WHO ARE YOU? To fully understand how TRN! audio programs work to create lasting changes in your emotions and habits, you should know how 'you' got to be 'you' in the first place. The answer is: your conditioned mental patterns and beliefs. So what's a mental pattern? According to Teri Mahaney, PhD and author of 'Change Your Mind,' a mental pattern is: 'A memory trace formed in your brain tissue to record something that you have experienced. As you see, hear, feel, smell, sense or taste something over and over, your brain builds a pattern of it. When you experience it again, or something like it, your brain activates the existing memory trace or patterned thinking and you go on autopilot.' Some examples of mental patterns are: * Feeling sad when you go into a flower shop... the smell triggers the same emotions you had at your parent's funeral * Automatically scratching when you feel some unfamiliar itch on your body * Feeling thrilled (or angry) every time you see a particular person, no matter what your mood was like before * Tasting a flavored coffee and you feel elation... like you felt that night in a Paris cafe drinking the same flavored coffee * Having a beer to 'unwind' every day after work * When dining out, you always order the same dessert * Pouring a beer and immediately lighting up a smoke * Hearing an old song and automatically going into the same emotional state you were in the last time you heard it Mental patterns are absolutely critical in getting things done efficiently. For example, it's more efficient to be on 'autopilot' while brushing our teeth instead of having to consciously think of each step (take out toothbrush, take paste, open paste, place paste on brush, etc.). However, many conditioned mental patterns can be very undesirable, as in the case of overeating sweets, smoking or in being afraid of something that can't possibly hurt you. The problem is that conditioned mental patterns that are unsupportive to your goals or dreams can be extraordinarily hard to break. So when you try to achieve something you've never done, unsupportive patterns like fear, anxiety or doubt may be lying in wait (in order to protect you from failing again), ready to take you on mental 'autopilot' whenever you get to a point where it's very similar to a painful experience or failure of the past. This can make you feel like an idiot... being unable to even perform, what appears on the surface, to be the simplest of tasks. ---- We are what we believe ourselves to be ---- These conditioned mental patterns and neuro-associations also work to shape, and are a reflection of, our core beliefs. If our minds were a computer, our beliefs would be our operating system! Our beliefs are the 'main controlling mechanism' for creating the people we become. They dictate how we feel, what we think, and how we 'frame' our experiences on a moment-by-moment basis. Our core-level beliefs are behind the 'inner voice' that talks to us all day long. Whether we say to ourselves: 'I bet I'll screw that up' 'I can't dance' 'He wouldn't go out with me' - OR CONVERSELY - 'I bet I can win if I try my best' 'I love to be the first one on the dance floor' 'I think we have a lot in common... I'm going to invite him out for coffee' ...both kinds of internal dialogue are a reflection of our core beliefs about ourselves, about others and the world around us. And just like a computer, practically every action we take is based on those beliefs (programs). If we believe ourselves to be a fat, clumsy oaf, there's little chance we'd join a health club and work-out in front of hundreds of other people. This is why studies show that 19 out of every 20 people who buy self-help books or tapes, buy pills, powders and patches, attend seminars or therapy, buy home exercise equipment will fail to reach their initial objectives... Even the vast majority of people who tie themselves into long health club memberships ultimately would quit going, even though they're stuck paying hefty membership fees for up to 3 years. Why don't these things motivate us to change, grow & excel? ...Because these things usually cause no change in mental patterns and core beliefs. Is it getting clearer to you? ...You must change on the inside before any change can really last on the outside. Hey, you can be going along nicely, making all the right decisions, feeling great, and BAM! Some thought comes to you because of some programmed way of responding from your past (Yes, even from when you were a child) and you are compelled to do something that goes completely against the direction you where moving in... ...And no book or pill or home exercise equipment could stop that goal killing thought from entering your mind. But TRN! Success Conditioning Programs can. TRN! audio programs DO change your automatic mental patterns and ultimately your attitudes, your core- level beliefs and you actions. They effortlessly, without any stress at all, change your inner dialog, your mental pictures and your emotions, which are critical in creating new habits. And they do it using a method that creates these changes without creating the typical stress, anxiety and apprehension normally associated with massive life changes... They actually reduce your stress as you're changing. --- What Can Empowering Beliefs Do For You? --- Below are some examples of the power of what empowered beliefs can do... Example 1 Confined to bed in the months leading to the Olympic trials because of an injury, U.S. Olympic pentathlete Marilyn King knew she had to keep training. So she 'mentally' trained herself, training in her mind and imagining that her body was fit. When she finally resumed 'real' training, her coach said she was, amazingly, almost completely physically fit... and ultimately, she won Olympic silver in the pentathlon. Example 2 The extraordinary teacher Marva Collins believed that she needed to make a real difference in her students' lives. These were kids from the ghetto areas of Chicago. They were labeled everything from 'troublemakers' to 'learning disabled' and 'retarded'. She was convinced that the problem was not the children, but how they were being taught. So she left her Chicago city school system teaching job, formed her own 'Westside Preparatory School' and did what she believed in... taught the classics, held her students to high standards, showed them love, and made them believe in themselves. At the end of her first year on her own, every child scored at least FIVE (5) grades higher, proving the labels placed on them were wrong. These remarkable results have continued throughout her 30-year teaching career all because of her belief in her students and their resulting belief in themselves. Example 3 Dr. Bernie Siegel, the Yale professor and best selling author, has done remarkable research on people with multiple personality disorders. Amazingly, the power of these people's beliefs that they had, indeed, become a 'different' person was so complete that it caused changes in their biochemistry. Their bodies would literally change before the observer's eyes as their personalities changed. Some of the more remarkable documented transformations included: * Eye color changes * Physical marks disappearing and reappearing * Diseases such as diabetes, allergies or high blood pressure came and went in seconds with the 'afflicted personality' Example 4 Prior to 1954, practically everyone considered it impossible for a human being to run the mile in less than four minutes. Everyone except Roger Bannister... He achieved the 'impossible' not only by intense physical training, but also by 'seeing' himself breaking the record, over and over in his mind. This developed in him a deep belief that he would succeed. Roger's stunning feat in 1954 was significant not only because he did run a sub 4-minute mile, but also because of the effect it had on other runners and their beliefs in what was possible. In the 6 years following Roger's record achievement, 36 other runners also ran sub 4-minute miles. Once one person did it, the 'mental barrier' was broken in everyone else, too. How Can You Develop Powerhouse Beliefs? What makes one person believe they can achieve anything they put their mind to, while another person believes that they are a 'loser' and fails at everything they do? Our beliefs (what we accept as true deep in our mind and body), from the tiny little ones to biggies are formed in any of five different ways: 1) The environment we live in every day 2) A single event or experience can persuade us to change a belief 3) Information we get from other people, books, tapes, movies, etc. 4) Our own past results persuade us to believe what we can and cannot do 5) Creating in our minds what we desire as if it already existed (like Marilyn King and Roger Bannister did in examples 1 and 4 above) is the final way to create or alter our beliefs And in addition, the strength of a belief depends on the emotional INTENSITY we feel about the references and the NUMBER of references we have to support the belief. Below are some examples that illustrate how unconscious belief (mental) patterns can form: * A parent repeatedly discourages a child, telling him he is 'stupid' and 'won't amount to anything.' The child grows into an adult that believes he is 'nothing,' that he can't learn, and fails at nearly everything he attempts. His negative self-concept was formed and made strong due to the repetition (number of references) of the negative comments from the parent and subsequent actions that work to confirm the beliefs. * In elementary school, we repeated over and over that 2 x 2 = 4, 3 x 6 = 18, 5 x 5 = 25 and so on. Once we formed mental patterns for these facts, we just know them without having to consciously think about it (like tying your shoe or cooking an egg). They become 'beliefs'. In this case, our belief is based on information we got from other people and from a book. It was then strengthened by repetitious personal experience. * A woman is assulted on a date. For many years afterward, she's still frightened to be alone with a man. And if she is placed in that situation, she has extreme anxiety, making it impossible to function normally in many settings. In this case, her dysfunctional mental pattern was formed through a single event that was emotionally intense. * A man is terrified of speaking in front of large audiences. However, on one occasion it was necessary for him in his job to deliver a presentation to a crowd of 100 people. Although he was shaking inside, he nonetheless tried his best and got a raucous standing ovation at the end. This single emotionally intense event changed his belief about his ability to speak to audiences, and the anxiety is gone. ---- Flip Your Switch To Win ---- How can you scramble and wipe out your unsupportive mental programs? How can you completely quit the bad habit you've had for years? How can you eliminate fears that stop you cold just when you're about to succeed big? How can you stay motivated to reach a long term goal even if you haven't been able to stick with it before? The answer is simple... You can only change a long-time belief, attitude, emotion or action in one of the same five (5) ways you got it in the first place (above). You COULD take the hard way... ...And move out of your home, quit all your old friends or some other radical approach to ensure that your environment supports your new goal(s). That might work. ...You COULD wait around for some emotionally charged experience that would force you to see the errors of your ways. That might work, too. Right. When cows fly. ...You COULD read and listen to everything on the subject of your goal and take months and years of grueling effort to change. But you may have tried that already. ...You COULD mightily force yourself to succeed at your goal, no matter how painful it might be, train yourself to notice every shred of positive results, using those results to 'teach' your mind that you can do it after all. But you have to be already VERY willing to change for this to work. ...Or you could use some simple mental training to change the way you think about the changes you want to make, like the most successful people alive do. Of course, the fifth way is the way that's the surest, easiest way I know of to make predictable changes in your life. That's where Think Right Now! come in... TRN! Programs quickly and easily dissolve all 11 of the Mental Patterns of Failure, many of which are found in every single failed attempt to succeed at anything (coming up in Day 5 of this course). They also finish the job and install all 11 of the mental patterns of success (Day 6) by creating in our minds what we desire as if it already existed (No. 5 in the list above). I call this process SUCCESS CONDITIONING. Wow, imagine being able to eliminate all the various types of beliefs, attitudes and unconscious mental triggers you have that don't support you in feeling how you want to feel and doing what you want to do.
