I'll never forget the first time I had to get up in front of
people to do a speech. It was actually in my Public Speaking
class in 12th grade. As soon as I walked to the front of the
class and turned around and saw all those eyeballs, I just
froze.

to people you know well.

as I have had a lifelong intense fear of getting up in front of
people to speak and have avoided this as much as possible all my
life. Of course many people have this fear and I know I'm not
alone but I knew it held me back from progressing in my career
and also from contributing as I should. I would plan events so
I would not be required to speak or I would ask others to speak
on behalf of me. Talk about planning your life so you avoid the
Hotspot!
If I was ever unable to get out of speaking I would miss
several days sleep leading up to the event and would be in
absolute turmoil by the time it was my turn. I don't think
others noticed my fear or they didn't mention it afterwards, but
I knew it was draining the life out of me! The few things I had
read about this fear mentioned that you had to get nervous to
put in a good performance -be it an opening night act, or a
speech, etc... but I knew I didn't want this turmoil every time as
it was so distressing both physically and emotionally.
I had bought several of your CDs previously and found them very
helpful and was really pleased to see this one come out as it
represented my biggest fear. I started listening to "Fearless
Public Speaking" and the words seemed to resonate and make a lot
of sense, especially about taking the focus off myself and
concentrating on the message -that was a key thing for me as I
know this amount of acute self consciousness is not helpful to
anyone and in some ways is quite a selfish way of not sharing
your talents.
I also had it on my computer (using the Think Right Now for
Windows Software) so I would have the positive messages flashing
on my screen all through out my working day. As this was a
really deep seeded fear I also read the TRN affirmations every
few days. I would play the CD in my car on the way to the event
where I had to speak. I didn't think I would ever be able to
"enjoy sharing what I know" but I have found this focus on
others and "sharing the message" has been enormously helpful. I
have recently had two occasions when I have been asked to speak
and though both have been to small groups (15 people) I have
experienced only marginal anxiety which was so fleeting it
barely registered - the panic never even started. Both times-
it was hard to believe and what's more I didn't feel so drained
after as I hadn't lost so much time, sleep and energy thinking
about it. I have several other events coming up where I have to
speak to much larger groups of people and now feel much more
confident in handling these situations. This has been a great
investment and I am very grateful that I found it.

Hi Mike,
I have had so many positive changes in my life since I started
