Dear Mike,
I ordered Fearless Public Speaking
in January of this year. I
was kind of desperate as 2 weeks
after I got it I was suppose
to stand up at our company banquet
and help out with this
joke. I had only worked at the job a few months and was
not completely comfortable with everyone yet.
I have a history of being a very shy, introverted person. When
I was growing up, people thought I was "stuck up". I was just
scared to death to talk to people I didn't know let alone a
group of people. I have been working on this over the years and
can now talk to people one on one more often than not without
any butterflies or feelings of inadequacy and not measuring up.
However standing in front of group of 50 - 100 people, or even
talking with someone in a position of authority was still next
to impossible, my confidence just left me.
So I got your CD and I knew it would work because I had already
gotten Setting and Achieving Goals and had great success. I did
not have to work through the"will this work" process of doubt
and denial. I just went to
work listening every night all night for
not quite 2 weeks.
I immediately noticed my interactions with people in general
were better. I felt more confident and secure. I felt equal to
people. I felt like what I had to say was important and others
would want to hear it.
The night of the Banquet, I, very calmly, did my part of the
joke. I was not nervous whatsoever. I got complimented on my
part in it. People said I did better than the regular speaker
who did the other part of the joke.
I have let my shyness hold me back for so long. I was unable
to advance in certain jobs because I was not willing to stand up
in front of people and do training or groups or whatever was
asked of me. NOW I CAN! I am excited that this will take me
places I never allowed myself to imagine before!!
