Why Paul is So Angry
Hello my friend:
An email that just hit the inbox just got me thinking
about a neighbor of mine.
A few nights ago, we were having dinner at a local
restaurant when Paul walked in with his wife and kids.
We gave Paul and his family a wave. He lives about 5
houses down the road from us, and even though we're not
friends, we're cordial in that neighborly sort of way.
As we were waiting for our entrée, I took a glance over at
Paul and I remembered again why we kept our distance. He
wasn't raising his voice or doing anything particularly
mean; he was just talking to his son, but without any joy
or happiness in his face. And his son was the same. Like
a zombie. Just one look at his set jaw and his body
language, you could see this is one angry guy.
You could see how his negative energy impacted his family,
too. His wife had this deer-in-the-headlights look. She
seemed to be nodding her head up and down a lot without
any expression on her face at all... probably so Paul
wouldn't blow up. Their daughter-she can't be more than 6-
just sat there and didn't say a word. None of them smiled
during their entire dinner, as far as I could see.
And I know no tragedy had recently struck. This was just
same ole, same ole.
Do you know people like Paul? Their anger and frustration
simmers right below the surface. Sometimes they don't even
have to say or do anything. You just feel that they could
blow a gasket with little provocation. You can just feel
it...
And it affects the lives of everyone around them. Family,
co-workers, friend - even neighbors like you and me.
Look at Paul, and you see a guy with a great wife,
terrific family. Nice house, good job. He has more
material things than just about anyone.
So why is he so damn angry at the world?
In the research we conducted for our "Anger Management
Now" program,
- http://www.thinkrightnow.com/a/anger.asp we discovered
some remarkable reasons why people develop unchecked rage
that wreaks so much havoc in their life.
They're surprising...
For instance, there are some negative patterns and
behaviors that are genetically passed down from parents to
children (like panic attacks, or anxiety overrun).
But anger IS NOT one of those patterns.
Anger is a core, destructive emotion that only develops
over time. It could start with a rage-aholic parent, or a
childhood filled with neglect or abuse.
Angry people also tend to have unrealistic expectations
about themselves and what people around them are 'supposed'
to do and spend a huge amount of time fixating over what is
wrong, or what isn't fair. They're always crying about how...
"It wasn't my fault."
"I had no choice."
"He had it coming."
"You just wait. I'll SHOW THEM!"
"Did you hear about Sue. I heard she..."
Did you know that many people will do almost anything
cling to their rage, even when they know full well it
doesn't work for them?
It's because anger is such an ingrained part of who they
are, they can't let go.
Many researchers agree that anger can be as addicting as
drugs or alcohol. You can't "will" it away, or take a
"happy pill" to make you feel better. That's why anger
management programs have less than a 25% success rate.
Many of them are waaaaay less than that. Because they deal
with logic. And logic doesn't guide behavior. Emotion does.
But here's some good news for you.
Since anger is a learned emotion, you can just as easily
UNLEARN it. It's all about changing your mental pictures of
how you view life. It's about how you communicate with
yourself every second of the day. It's about what your
expectations are. Are they realistic in this moment? Or
are they not realistic?
Our Accelerated Success Conditioning Program, Anger
Management Now http://www.thinkrightnow.com/a/anger.asp
addresses all the emotional issues related to anger
patterns and rewires the synapses in your brain to let go
of the moment-by-moment thoughts, feelings, and beliefs
that are at the root of the anger and hostility that has so
much power over you.
Instead of suffering with your old way of thinking and
acting, this program is designed to help you begin to
respond differently inside even if nothing in your world
changes on the outside. That's a fact.
So with time and repetition, your mind will have NO CHOICE
but to fully accept these new mental pictures of peace and
harmony. Hostility and anger literally evaporates. Before
you know it:
Your attitudes are more positive and happy.
Your decisions and actions are more constructive.
Your mind feels calm and at peace.
And the sleep! Mahvelous!
Love,
Mike
