1 powerful tip to double your sales income
Hello my friend:
It's no wonder that most people aren't good at selling or
that 80% of all businesses fail in the first 5 years...and
that 80% of the those who survive the first 5 years are
history by the 10 year mark.
People hate selling.
They hate having to start new relationships every single
day... and that is what selling is.
They hate being rejected... and that is what selling is
about. But most people take rejection personally and can't
differentiate between, "I don't like your product" and "I
don't like you."
I read a study recently by a major university and their
psychological testing showed that only 1 in 15 people has
what it takes inside to be successful in sales.
And that is part of the reason why so many people in the
sales profession are so bad at it.
If you ever wondered where the term "phoney" came from, it
was what phone salespeople were called in the early days of
the telephone. They were called phoneys. And now the word
has morphed into meaning a fake or unauthentic, which,
unfortunately is what many salespeople are.
So if you are in the field of sales, and you don't want to
be seen as a phoney, which kills your chances for success
instantly, then follow me...
When I first got into the hearing instrument field, I was
more interested in sounding smart than actually listening
to what my prospects were saying. That meant that I was
saying things they didn't care one bit about. I was too
busy spouting out fancy sounding facts and statistics,
which were completely ineffective. And my income showed it.
But that was about to change fast.
The day I stopped thinking about me (worrying about
sounding brilliant) and started focusing on my prospect
totally and completely, that was the day I started to soar.
The second I laid eyes on each person I was to talk to, I
instantly imagined them as my best friend, as someone I
deeply cared about, as someone I would die for, as someone
who would die for me, as someone I wanted to help right now
if I could.
And I'll tell you what...
When you do that, your whole perception of selling changes
dramatically.
No longer is it a struggle and a grind.
Instead, it becomes not just tolerable... it becomes a rip-
roaring riot.
I am not kidding even a little bit.
When you see your prospects and customers as a paycheck, a
boob, a thing or merely a transaction, you will never sell
them anything.
You will hate your job.
You will suck at it.
And you will live in poverty.
But when you love those you serve (or are supposed to
serve)...
You will love your job.
You will be among the best, if not THE best.
And you will be paid handsomely.
Because sales is the business of helping people.
And for people to want you to be the one to help them,
they must first like you.
But first, YOU must like THEM. You must LOVE them.
This is the first step.
The most important step.
Think product knowledge is first? Think having pictures
of your dream house plastered all over the place is first?
Think being a "good talker" is first?
They're not even close.
I know a lot of people in sales who know their products,
who have giant dreams, and who can talk like no one else.
And they live like paupers. And they're miserable.
But the ones who care about helping others more than
anything else?
Happy in their work and in life. And they're paid more
than 99% of all humanity.
And this goes for anyone who is in "customer support" type
jobs. Keep these points in mind and YOU will become a
superstar, too.
It's all mindset.
Attitude.
Belief systems.
Do this one thing and you could double or triple your
sales income.
And that is what you really want, isn't it?
